Las Palmas Villas are nestled in a quaint colonial neighborhood in historic Puerto Armuelles, in the province of Chiriqui, Panama on the Pacific Ocean. Once home to the executives who managed the United Fruit Company starting in the early part of the 20th century, around fifty clapboard homes stand on stilts within rolling green lawns, mango, palm and citrus trees. The Villas dominate the center of the little village, perched on two and a half acres of pasture and mature tropical vegetation, their typical teak slat windows catching the sea breezes that cool the atmosphere year-round.
Puerto Armuelles lies at the head of the Burica Peninsula, just a short distance from the border of Panama and Costa Rica. The town is accessible by excellent roads from David, the third largest city in Panama and home to Enrique Malek International Airport. From David, you can reach Puerto Armuelles in a little over an hour by car. Puerto Armuelles also has an airstrip capable of receiving twin engine private charters, which can be arranged from either Panama City or David. The town has several grocery stores, banks, pharmacies and a hospital. The Burica Peninsula is known for the richness of its tropical splendor, with native flora and fauna arrayed in dazzling variety and abundance. The topography of the land is composed of both gentle plains and dramatic hills that sometimes drop directly into the waters of the Pacific. Long glistening stretches of deserted beaches dot the coast from just beyond the town to the tip of the Peninsula. There are arguably no better sports fishing grounds in the world today than those that lie just a short distance from the shores at Puerto Armuelles. |
Puerto Armuelles is a place to escape to. A place to slow the pace of frenzied modern life and relax and revel in nature and a gentler way of life. Here, you’ll find no nightclubs, no gleaming tourist attractions. Here you will find peace, quiet and the reminiscence of a simpler time. |
